What has changed
On 26 June 2026 FSC published version 3-0 of FSC-STD-50-001, “Use of the FSC Trademarks by Certificate Holders”. It came into force on 1 July 2026, and certificate holders have a transition period that ends on 31 December 2028.
FSC also launched an online training module of about one hour on the FSC Academy, aimed at certificate holders, certification bodies and anyone who approves labels and communication material.
What to review
The detail is in the standard itself, which this summary does not replace. As a starting point, review:
- product labels and packaging;
- promotional material: website, catalogues, social media and commercial proposals, with particular emphasis on removing the “Forests For All Forever” registered trademark;
- the internal process for approving the use of the trademarks;
- training for purchasing, marketing and dispatch on the correct use of trademarks and claims.
How I can help
I carry out an internal audit of the use of FSC trademarks and claims and prepare training sessions for teams, using the new version of FSC-STD-50-001 as the reference.
